I\u2019ve come to believe it\u2019s really about who you are and how you carry yourself, day in and day out. For me, that comes from the quiet lessons I picked up through faith and family. They shaped how I see the world and how I aim to handle every decision, challenge, and opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, I\u2019ve never held a fancy business degree, but I\u2019ve been around long enough to know that what\u2019s inside your head matters just as much as what\u2019s in your hands. Hard work and skill are important, sure, but they won\u2019t take you far without a steady mindset and a sense of purpose. That kind of foundation doesn\u2019t come out of thin air. For me, it\u2019s rooted in Scripture and in the way my folks lived, honest, faithful, and humble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One verse that\u2019s helped steer me more than once is Proverbs 15:22: \u201cPlans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.\u201d That bit of wisdom has saved me from more than a few mistakes. It\u2019s easy in business to think you\u2019ve got to shoulder everything alone, but that kind of thinking can get you sideways in a hurry. I\u2019ve learned to lean on wise people around me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That includes my wife, a few trusted friends, and even some customers who know what they\u2019re talking about. When you take time to listen and ask the right questions, you\u2019ll often land in a better spot than if you had tried to tough it out alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I\u2019m staring down a hard decision, I go back to something experience has taught me along the way. I ask myself, \u201cIs it legal, moral, ethical, and dangit, the right thing to do?\u201d That simple question has kept me pointed in the right direction, even when the easier path looked tempting. It\u2019s not about being perfect or pleasing everybody. It\u2019s about staying true to your word and sleeping well at night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve also learned that trust is the real foundation of a good business. Not flash, not sales tricks, just plain trust. The Bible teaches us to love our neighbors as ourselves, and that plays out in how you treat every single person, whether they\u2019re a longtime customer, a supplier you only talk to once a month, or the fella sweeping up at the end of the day. Small acts of respect add up. Over time, that becomes your reputation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, I\u2019ve had my share of stumbles, just like anybody. But I\u2019ve also learned that mistakes are teachers in disguise. Scripture reminds us to stay humble and open to correction. That\u2019s how you grow. You won\u2019t get everything right the first time, but if you keep learning, keep trying, and keep showing up, you\u2019ll get better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you\u2019re building pole barns, roasting coffee, fixing engines, or mowing lawns, the same principles hold true. What you do matters, but how you do it matters more.
