Probably not the last. I had it in hand earlier, even set it right by the door. But by the time I got where I was going, it was still sitting back home by the door, probably wondering what it had done wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I usually get worked up about that sort of thing. A little forgetfulness turns into a whole inner lecture. You should\u2019ve remembered. You should be better than this. You should slow down. And before long, I\u2019m not just frustrated, I\u2019m feeling like I\u2019ve failed at something so darn simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lately, I\u2019ve been trying a different approach. When I forget, I take it as a sign to pause. Not to beat myself up, but to ask what\u2019s actually filling my mind. Because it\u2019s not empty in there, it\u2019s full. Plum full of things I care about. People, responsibilities, memories, thoughts I haven\u2019t had time to finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe forgetting a small thing now and then is the cost of carrying so much that matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That doesn\u2019t mean I won\u2019t keep trying. I\u2019ll keep using checklists. I\u2019ll keep placing things where I think I\u2019ll see them. And I\u2019ll keep giving myself a little grace when it all slips anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because at the end of the day, what matters most usually finds its way back to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014Albert<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>P.S.
